(Personally, I consider this a bug, but I can’t recall it ever working, so adding it as an idea for improvement.)

In Topic Moderation (Control), it would be great if existing moderator tags popped up to be selected like Public Tags do with (most) topics in the moderation view. 

Nice UX for selecting from existing public tags; desired experience for moderator tags

 

Frustrating UX for having to type out moderator tags even if it’s been used frequently

 

Impact: 

  • Easy of use
  • Standardization / data validation - reducing human error that comes from typos
  • Awareness of pre-established moderator tag options

My use cases:

I make heavy use of moderator tags for two purposes

  1. Triggering Zapier automations
  2. Reporting breakouts (segmenting question types, tracking escalations, etc)

The more use cases I build, the more I need to reference my list of moderator tags to get it exactly right. And the more likely it is that I’ll make a typo on tags like “troubleshooting.”

Making a new appeal for this based on this question: 


When I talk to other customers on advocacy calls, and later this month in my Pulse presentation, I emphasize how powerful the use of moderator tags can be. I trigger a TON of automations off adding Moderator Tags. And I do a lot of custom reporting based adding Moderator Tags. It’s one of my top recommendations to Community Managers: figure out how to make Moderator Tags help with your bespoke use cases. 

But the lack of this functionality makes it a daily pain for people with heavy usage of Moderator Tags. And this introduces the risk of human error (via typo) by having to create it new each time. 

If this isn’t a big lift, it’d be good to sneak into the margins of a future sprint and eliminate some unnecessary friction. 

Thanks for tying these conversations together ​@DannyPancratz! Couldn’t agree more. Moderator tags are beyond helpful, and with how they’re broken at the moment I find myself having to use a combination of both Moderator labels and tags to get the control over posts that I’m looking for. Fixing Moderator tags so they’re functionally analogous to Public tags would be a huge help and would save me a lot of time!
