More of an admin QoL wish list item than a huge annoyance or blocker, but I’ve had several cases in recent weeks where I’ve needed to update a design that was based off a template (in several places) and I had to make the changes in all designs the template was used in, plus the template itself. Which caused significant extra work since it wasn’t a small design.
Could we have the ability to push template updates to live designs?
Use case:
I’ve made filtering changes/changed a merge to left instead of right or similar, and I want the change to be reflected to some or all the designs the template is used in.
Would need to be able to select what designs to push changes to in a granular way
I’ve also thought about changes that would involve adding data sets to the template and pushing that down to designs by considering the template as a “fetch from template” instead of “copying the template” into the design, but there are other ways to achieve this + it could cause other kind of chaos.

Woah, this would be fantastic. I’ve been thinking through how best to set up our design templates to minimize future updates, but even then, having to manually update every program that a specific template relies on could quickly spiral into a LOT of work.

I could see this being a tricky prospect to implement, but infinitely useful. Sort of how when you update an email template, and you get the popup (below).
Maybe it could look something like the following:
Select “Edit” on a Design Template > Screen launches with “This template is in use in these active programs. Select programs to update template.” message with a list of the programs and checkboxes (we could then pause all the affected programs while editing) > “Are you sure want to proceed?”
Being able to see at a glance what programs that Design Template powered -- and push those updates live -- would be a gamechanger.

Separate reply, since this is a separate idea (didn’t want to lump it with the above ☝).
I wonder… could this be a case where a data design template could have a segment as a source? Would need to think through this idea a bit more (early AM and haven’t had much coffee yet), but thinking through this logically, if we made changes to a segment, and that segment was one of the building blocks for a design template… if we updated the segment, would that updated segment (upon a scheduled sync) be able to be pushed through wherever the design template was in use? 🤔
We don’t currently use segments (for a multitude of reasons), but if we could segment our main user groups (all active customers, new users in first X days, mature users X days old, unengaged users, power users, etc.) and then pull those different segments into the data design templates within our specified programs, that could be an interesting approach.
