Period-over-period Formula Should Provide Detailed Outputs

This one is a true enhancement request - everything is working properly, but I think it could be better!

Currently, when using a period-over-period formula in rules the most frequent use-case is to pull in a full range of timeseries data and apply the PoP formula in a followup Transform task. This adds the final PoP output to the task as a single formula field, which is fine….but….

What if I’d like to “show my work” - either for testing or to surface to end users somewhere? Well, I’d need to isolate the aggregated totals for each time period individually. Example below.

Example

Period-over-period calc for a field “Total Clicks” in a daily timeseries dataset. I’d like to see % change on the last 30 days (days 0-30) vs the previous 1 period (days 31-60).

Total Clicks (days 0-30): 10

Total Clicks (days 31-60): 15

PoP Output: -50%

In this example, the only data available in the output is the -50% figure. It would be AWESOME if the PoP formula actually output 3 fields here: one total for each of the aggregated “periods”, and the final % output. For multi-period deployments, the number of fields would go up to accommodate the additional periods.

This could be an optional config, like a checkbox, so that people who dont want the raw data can elect not to deal with the extra fields. As it stands, those details are only available to me if I go through the extra steps of calculating them on my own - at which point I’m 90% of the way to doing my own PoP calculation using a plain formula anyway.
