Restrict Groups by Custom Roles

We have a need to have certain groups open to custom roles (customers, partners, or employees - or some combination of these).

We can do this by making the groups private, and then approving anyone with those roles to join. But it would be great if they could be groups that were “public” if you fit into one of those custom roles.

This way, customers could see the “Getting Started” group and join and be automatically admitted. But we only want customers in this group, but the group would be hidden from other roles.

Realized this is a v useful scenario when Tickets are created from Defects reported inside a closed group and it is an unscalable process to have to invite Support agents 1:1, rather enabling a role let’s say ‘Support’ . Groups should have the option of 1:1 invites as well as bulk invites using Custom Roles.

It's an opportunity for engagement

Makes sense @Kgastaldo. This would prevent you from having to check every group request for it being a customer, right?

@Sebastian any news on this idea? We also want to create specific groups for specific custom roles but we don’t want to have to check every request. We already gave the member permission by giving him the custom role.
