Saved Views for Analytics Dashboards

Came here to add this idea gain, discovered I already posted it a year ago (to the day!). Hoping this reply helps encourage others to vote for it. 🤞

The New Dashboards, in Open Beta now, offer the ability to save views with filters applied, similar to saved views in Content moderation

​@Aleksandra I can’t speak for ​@DannyPancratz, but for me, I’m not sure that the current functionality in the New Dashboards accomplishes what I believe this idea is asking for (at least not yet).

I can indeed save customizations to any of the existing New Dashboards, but I cannot make multiple versions of them, or name them, or add modules to them, or anything like that.

If I wanted to have, for example, a Content dashboard saved that shows content authored by each of my primary custom roles, I have to change my filters each time, even if I save a customization. Being able to duplicate a saved view of a dashboard and name it (like with user segments), or even add modules to it to fully customize the experience, is what I was looking for when I voted for this idea.

TBH, I don’t often use the new dashboards because I can get most of what I need from the original dashboards. (They are an improvement though when I need them)

However, the spirit of this idea when I originally submitted it is in line with ​@atwhite’s feedback: 

As a Community Manger, when I need to do my regular weekly/monthly/quarterly reporting cadence, I want to be able to leverage a set of saved views (often the same metrics, using different filters), so that I can easily compile metrics for my reports, ensure standardization and mitigate the risks of human error. 

That last part is key for me. My reporting is often looking at different views of the same metrics with various filters on primary and custom roles. That complexity introduces risk that how I apply the filter one month may be different from the next month. 

​@DannyPancratz ​@atwhite Thanks for explaining! I've reopened the idea. In the meantime, you can use the Data Connector to CC  Data Lake, allowing you to query data and build any reports you need with external BI tools.
