Scope Public Tags to Category

We’d like to suggest support for category scoped tags, in addition to (or instead of) globally shared public tags. A community supporting multiple products may share some high-level topics, but each product has unique terminology that doesn’t apply elsewhere.

Global tags quickly become noisy and less useful. When all tags are shared across the entire community:

• Tags become overly broad or duplicated with slight variations
• Users see irrelevant tags for products they don’t use
• Moderation and tag hygiene become harder
• Search and filtering lose precision
