Search result page pre-filtered for module and category

Thank you for keeping this idea in our field of view! I changed the title to avoid misunderstanding. This idea is about when users hit enter or ‘View all’ in the search bar the following search result page should be pre-filtered for given module and category if it applies.
I hope I understood the idea correctly :)

That is correct! 

I don’t think it needs to necessarily have to be granular to each category, (although it would be great), but definitely in something like Ideation or Got A Question should be pre-determined.

Hi All,
I do have a similar concern; It could be confusing since search option appears under the forum name in ours; If it was a search for whole community shouldn’t it be on top (above sub forum names). Also it would have been great if there is a direct search option within a sub forum (rather than having to use filters). Hence upvoted the idea :)

I wonder what @Ilan B thinks of having a global search in the header on modules and categories like we have currently on the topic/article page and making the search field in the hero section lead to a pre-filtered search result page?
Before hitting enter, we already only suggest results in the dropdown that are limited to the module and category. One concern would be that users could miss hard to categorise results outside of the category they are already in. Is that why you wouldn’t make it so granular and only pre-filter on the module level?

That is exactly what I am looking for! Ideally, I’d love to have plenty more control on how the results are generated depending on where you search, but I understand that there are limitations for that. 

The drop down suggestions is definitely helpful, but I would love to see that pre-filtering with the results when you press enter too. I agree with your concern you raise. It’s just a confusing experience, that when I am in the “ideation” section, and I use the search bar in the “Ideation” section, I get questions, conversations, articles and ideas.

While we see the value here, this isn’t something we’re actively prioritising right now due to other roadmap commitments.

We appreciate the submission and will revisit it as priorities evolve.
