Segments: add a 'OR' to filter not just 'AND'

Thanks for sharing this idea @timcavey! We’ve considered building this, but the most common use case was to show ‘users with more than 1 topic’ OR ‘users with more than 1 reply’ (instead of AND). We’ve addressed that use case with our new Posts filter (which is topics and replies combined), and we haven’t really come across more use cases that require and/or being stringed together.

Do you have a couple of use cases in mind? What kind of segment would you build with this, and how would that help you?

Yes member segments has such huge potential some examples:

• Member has X profile field ticked OR X badge
• Member has profile field X ticket OR profile field Y ticked
• Member is X rank or has provided >X best answers OR has posted >Y times

OR filters allows for a basket of members. && means you can only refine your segment to be more and more targeted.

I would definitely love to see this feature. We want to enable local groups to meet…. but I can’t create a single segment for multiple spellings around a city or country. E.g., I can create a segment for “New York” and a segment for “NYC” but I cannot make a segment that looks for both of these. 

Also we would love to group by countries that share common languages (Spanish, Portuguese). 

Yes, this idea makes sense still and we will look into this when we improve out segments module.
