Separate "Set the filter to mask OR exclude urls"

Currently Gainsight PX only allows you to select mask OR filter URLs from being tracked. 

You can select the “mask” option which will allow you to hide parts of the URL when storing that page view event.

OR

You can select the “exclude” option which will tell the Gainsight javascript to simply not send events recorded specified areas of the product. 

 

The issue here is that you have to choose. We do not have the ability to use both features simultaneously. Both masking some URLs and fully excluding other areas of the product from Gainsight usage tracking. Enhancement would be to break these configurations into separate rows of the SDK settings page and allow each product to specify/use both features simultaniously.

    @Ashton this has been implemented.

    In SDK settings page, you will find an option to set “URLs to be excluded from tracking” and in the existing mask or exclude URLs section you can use the mask option and set urls to be masked.

     

     

    If you want to do in the product tag directly; then you can add a config to filter by filterType: “mask” and another config as detailed below to do both masking and exclusion on the URLs of choice.

    excludeUrls=[“”,””]

    }

     

    Documentation is not yet updated and will get it updated. But the documentation can help understand mask/ exclude process.

     

    P.S. we will update UI later on - to have simple one line config for masking on the SDK settings page, just like we have “URLs to exclude from tracking”
