It would be really nice to incorporate a Slack integration into inSided. Sometimes we struggle with internal adoption on our community via our employees. However, the company lives in Slack. If there's a way to bring the community into Slack, I feel that we'd see a big increase in employee engagement.

For example) If there's a question on a specific product sub category, the PM of that product could subscribe to the slack channel (product xxx) and be notified when there are questions in the community.

It would also be great to be able to submit your response via Slack that would then populate on the sub category as if it was a native response.

@daniel.boon I’m just now setting up the inSided>>Slack Zap, and based on the trigger it looks like I need a separate Zap for every category + post type, is that right? Or is there a way for ALL new posts (regardless of category or idea or post type) to be handled via one Zap?

 

Also, related just want to plug this awesome idea @Scott Baldwin shared a couple of months ago - same idea of building awareness about inSided community activity in tools where folks spend most of their time already, but geared toward community members vs. your employees. I’m campaigning hard for this one, give it an upvote if you’d like to see this too :wink:


Hey @Chris Anderson - good news: those fields are filters, and they’re optional :). If you leave them blank, all new topics will be sent to Slack.

In the process of reviewing all the ideas shared on our community, we've discussed this idea.

We've actually released improvements in the meantime which are related to this idea - as mentioned in our last roadmap update, we have a Zapier app available for beta testing. This enables you to integrate the community with Slack, JIRA, and 1000s of other apps. We ourselves have managed to set up a Slack integration where you can even reply to the community from Slack (with no engineering resources required).

See new messages in Slack threads, and reply to the community directly from Slack.

I've updated the status of this idea to partially available as a result.

Hey @daniel.boon All this looks great - this is what I’ve been looking for. I saw this is from a couple years ago - any updates on the slack integration? Additionally, do you have any step by step instructions on how to set this integration up? 


Love the idea for pushing Slack replies to the Community to help drive internal adoption from our Product team! Curious if there are any updates to this as the most recent post was a year ago.
