When you click on a member profile there should be clear copy/intuitive UX that accompanies the badge icon to indicate the “title” and a short description as to what they’ve done to earn it.

Better experience for members to understand their own badges and what behaviour they’re being rewarded for, plus it adds context to help other members understand what they need to do to earn their own badges to drive more community engagement.

The current hover state is very inconsistent to be able to see the badge title, so even improving that functionality would be a better UX.

Thank you for posting this Justine. To clarify, you mean displaying the badge title on the profile page. And also to improve our hover states on the profile image.

You mention that the hover is inconsistent. Could you please tell us what bothers you (and your users) the most?

In the meantime, I will open this idea up for voting.

Hi @Ati Somos -- the current state is a “resting” mouse cursor hover on the profile page vs a roll-over with your mouse cursor to prompt the badge title to appear...roll-over is the reality of what users are doing with their mouse, so they are missing the title context.

Then adding a spot for a short description would be helpful to let members know what it’s for to encourage the engagement to drive the gamification. Ideally, this short description would also be visible on the home page “Awarded Badges” widget as well.

Still think this is completely relevant. If we want to continue gamifying the Community, rewarding our most engaged members, and enticing others to join in this should be reconsidered. Another option could be to make the badges clickable so they take people somewhere to learn more but not as ideal as the idea presented above.

I think an All Badges page would also be handy in this regard, where it just lists all possible badges and their descriptions. Of course admin could decide to display of hide badges from that page.

We have received not much votes and for now we have parked this idea. We will re work on this when we work on revamping the profile page.
