Use CC MCP Write Tools
This article helps admins, community managers, and moderators manage community content and ideas with CC MCP write tools in Gainsight CC.
Overview
CC MCP write tools let you publish content, manage ideas, and moderate your community through a conversation with your preferred AI tool.
Community managers use the write tools to publish and update content faster. Moderators use them to triage topics and ideas in bulk. Product teams use them to keep idea statuses and product areas current without clicking through the community interface.
Note: Claude users, refresh your tool list or reconnect the CC MCP connection. Check that the new write tools appear in your tool list. Write tools are only available to Admins, Community Managers and Moderators. Regular community members can only use MCP read tools.

Content Tools
Content tools cover creating, editing, publishing, replying to, and moderating topics. The following table lists each tool and what it does:
| Tool | What it does |
| Create Content | Creates an article, conversation, question, or product update. |
| Edit Content | Updates the topic title or description. |
| Publish Content | Publishes a draft. Applies to articles and product updates only. |
| Reply To Content | Posts a reply as you. |
| Assign Content Moderator | Assigns a moderator to a topic. |
| Close Content | Closes or reopens a topic for replies. |
Idea Tools
Idea tools help you keep your ideas board organized, from submitting a new idea to merging duplicates. The following table lists each tool and what it does:
| Tool | What it does |
| Submit Idea | Submits a new idea. |
| Edit Idea | Updates the title, description, status, product areas, or closed flag. |
| Reply To Idea | Posts a reply on an idea. |
| Vote Idea | Votes or unvotes an idea as you. |
| Manage Idea Tags | Adds or removes public tags on an idea. |
| Manage Idea Moderator Tags | Replaces an idea’s moderator tags. |
| Merge Idea Votes | Merges the votes from one idea into another. This action cannot be undone and requires confirmation. |
| Assign Idea Moderator | Assigns a moderator to several ideas at once. |
| List Idea statuses | Lists idea statuses and their IDs. You need this before changing a status. |
| List Product Areas | Lists product areas and their IDs. |
Example Prompts
Describe what you want in plain language. The following prompts show the kinds of requests the write tools support.
- Set the status of this idea [idea link] to Planned and add a public tag 'UI'.
- Merge the votes from this duplicate idea [idea link] into idea [idea link].
- Assign Sam as the moderator to this topic [topic link].
- Draft a product update for this month's release and publish it.
- Close all topics in the Announcements category that are older than 90 days.
