Hi Scott,

I’m re-joining to see if you’ve had better luck than I have with using the Data Designer concat function to render a Salesforce link.

Hi Scott, my questions for today:

  1. JO emails: If I embed a report (inline), it only shows the first 5 columns in the report. I need to show 7 columns. Is there a way for me to configure this, or can GS Ops change a setting on the back end to allow it? I think it should be up to us to rationalize “# of columns” vs. “is the report readable?”, not have it enforced by the application. That’s what testing is for.

  2. JO emails: Is there any way to bcc: a recipient? Also when I use the cc: option, Gainsight appears to send a second copy to the cc: recipient, not the original email w/ the cc: person copied. Do the cc: emails and bcc: emails count against the platform email limits?

    You
r answers from a previous meeting:
    1. Cc: from JO is a separate email. In Email Assist, however, it works as expected.
    2. Bcc: from JO, Scott will double check with his internal Ops team

  3. Surveys: Image Guidelines
Are there any specific guidelines on images dimensions, pixel density, file format for the survey web pages and survey emails? I reviewed these 2 pages and I only saw guidelines for the image file formats (GIF or JPG; was surprised to not see PNG as recommended) but not the other items:

    Survey Design - Gainsight Inc.
    Survey Properties - Gainsight Inc.

  4. Person/Contact Management
What is the recommended best practice in terms of minimum fields required to add a contact into Gainsight? Email address only? Email + First Name + Last Name? Other?

Context: For an upcoming survey I’m getting a list of survey recipients from the survey requestor, and some are missing first or last name or both. My gut tells me to reject recipients with no first or last name, it just “feels like” dirty data.

Hello all -- my apologies @Veronica.Moore and @justo.casablanca and others, but I am having internet issues and am not getting enough speed to run a shared call -- I will try to post answers soon to your questions if I can get it running better soon, once I’ve dealt with my provider support.

Best,

Scott Drost

Hello @Veronica.Moore , don’t know if you got that working, but I finally had time (and internet) to put together a Data Designer that works as you are wanting it to.

Not sure where the difference might be, but a couple important items to note:

  • When either previewing in Data Designer, or creating a report in DD “Explore” mode, the HTML will not render -- you’ll just see the long string.
  • You have to publish, and then run, the DD -- only then can you create a Report in Report Engine and have it render as a link.

I thought we’d confirmed that you had created a report from Reports using a refreshed, published Data Designer, but possibly mis-remembering.

See screenshots below for the exact Concat formula I used in the DD, and then the result in a Report:
