If you don’t have processes in place to confirm (here’s mine), check whether your PX integration with Salesforce is properly matching contacts.

We’re 10+ days into 40-50% of new users not matching despite no change to the integration setup in PX and no changes (that I”m aware of) on the Salesforce side.

I’ve reported this to support and they are investigating, but I’m curious as to whether it’s impacting others as well. If not, I want to do more digging internally to confirm we didn’t cause this with a change on our side.

Hi Danny. Checking in on this to see if the ticket revealed anything we can learn from. I only use the SFDC integration in PX for ad hoc attribute updates, but it would be helpful to hear if the support team found the underlying issue or recommended any best practices for a more predicable experience.

No resolution yet. No lessons learned yet. Other than I really recommend automating a check of the sfdcContactId field after 1+ days based on the new user webhook, as that’s how I caught this immediately. (The automation delays 3 days, then runs an API call to check the user and confirm that it has been matched with a contact, and there are some conditional other steps in there too to ensure the contact 1.) exists, 2.) has been updated recently enough to be in the scope of the overnight sync, etc. If the contact isn’t matched, I get a slack alert.)

We’re a month+ into the issue and support is still investigating.

There have been some hypotheses around mismatches of field types causing the issues, but nothing identified yet. We’re down to about 10% of the new users matching and the rest never match, despite those contacts existing, having been recently modified so they’re in the scope of the daily syncs, etc.

The good news is that the push/pull of data seems to be fine for those users that do match. But when 90% of new users aren’t matching, that’s only so helpful.
