Have you been looking forward to an improved way to reach your customers In-App?

We have been working on a new Engagement experience as part of PX.
Creating and managing In-App Engagements should feel effortless. We have aimed for a full-scale revamp and we are finally at a point where we want to show you what we have been building.
Here is what we have heard from you in the past:

  • The editor needs to be the same for all engagement types, not just some
  • Button actions should extend to other components too, text, images, and more
  • Preview and live designs should look identical, no CSS conflicts
  • The editor itself needs to be simpler to use
  • Ability to collect feedback inside Guide engagements
  • Easier ways to edit and manage templates
  • Positioning components, especially buttons, is harder than it should be
  • Save, launch, and pause actions are scattered and need to come together

What have we worked on? Here is what it looks like in practice:

  • One editor for everything : Dialogs, Tooltips, Banners, Badges and Surveys, all created in the same place with the same experience.
  • Layouts instead of templates: We are moving from the templates model to a Layouts library. Save any individual step you design as a reusable layout.
  • Drag, drop, and group freely: Drag to add and reorder blocks, resize by pulling handles, and align blocks with snapping. Build with Row and Column containers that nest inside each other.
  • Actions everywhere: Actions are no longer just for buttons. Apply click actions to text, images, and any interactive component.
  • Survey and feedback blocks, natively: NPS, CES, Star Rating, Choice (single or multi-select), Boolean (Yes/No, Thumbs, Emoji), and Open Text blocks work inside any engagement type.
  • Simplified flow and lifecycle: Configure on one side, Target on the other. One consistent place for Save, Launch, Pause, and Edit draft
  • Brand theming that cascades: Define your colour palette and text styles once in Brand Settings. Every engagement that references those tokens updates instantly when you change the theme.
  • Build with AI: Describe what you want, paste a screenshot, or pick from suggested prompts. The AI builder generates full canvas layouts, creates multi-step flows, or makes targeted property changes all in a conversation. Try it out by getting a free key from console.groq.com

We want you to try it
Here is the demo prototype: https://engagement-demo-dusky.vercel.app/

Demo recording: https://share.zight.com/9ZukGzJP

Try designing something complex. Something you always wanted to build but found difficult in the current editor. A few things worth exploring:

  • Build a multi-step flow with buttons and conditions
  • Try nesting Row and Column containers to build a richer layout
  • Apply a click action to an image or a text block
  • Use the AI builder to generate a layout from a description
  • Open Brand Settings and create themes and layouts, then watch it apply live

Disclaimer: This is still a demo prototype and we do not have the full functionality in place. Please be vary of bugs.

We are in advanced stages of grooming right now. The sooner we hear from you, the more we can incorporate your input before things get locked in.

@rithvikvarma Loved the new editor demo! 😎
Do we have a timeline for GA? Also curious if the old editor going to be deprecated eventually?

Forum|alt.badge.img

@Sai Padala  We don’t have any timelines yet, as the project is still under discussion and grooming. How did you find the editor? Is there anything you’d like to highlight or any areas for improvement?

Hi, this looks interesting. The editor is something that can definitely benefit from some improvements. Once we get to use it might have more feedback. I watched the demo walkthrough but there was no audio in it.

I was wondering if there is any shortcut or option to undo an action?

Forum|alt.badge.img

@Giri Yes there is a shortcut and an icon to undo, you can find it in the bottom right of the right panel when you are editing steps. Were you able to use the prototype? Do you have any feedback that you have from using it?

I will keep experimenting with this demo, but it’s looking Awesome. Here are some notes in no particular order:

  1. Massive improvements to the engagement list view and filtering. I’m curious to see how the engagement label interface changes too
  2. The addition of ‘custom events’ to the server-side button actions is excellent.
  3. The ability to add multiple server-side actions is extremely useful and solves some issues we’ve had in the past.
  4. The input type blocks are another huge gamechanger for several of our use cases. That’s a big deal.
  5. The HTML block type is a great idea, and I think that editor works really nicely. Is there a way to access the html and css for the parent engagement or other non-HTML block types, like the current editor’s code view? Example: can I edit my NPS input block using hard coded CSS?
  6. In the block editing palette, the red X  has clear hover text, but I think many users will interpret the icon as a ‘close palette’ function not a ‘delete element’, because reading.

This looks awesome. I particularly like the new approach to templates and branding. The HTML editor with options for HTML/CSS/JS is a great touch. I often fight with the editor today.

This is one of those things where it’ll be easier to explore it properly once it is built out. Would love to be part of a beta for this if/when available.

My biggest concern is losing functionality in favor for a cleaner look. I feel like some things are missing already but I can’t put my finger on what they are.
