I am trying to get my head around tracking quarterly retention for our community using PX.

I am using the retention report set up as below.

The results then show users with activity in month 0 vs month x.

How (if I can) monitor users with activity in (Q1 vs Q2)

i.e. a group of months and a group of months.

Any thoughts?

Thank in advance.

There isn't a clean way to do that in the box since the largest cohort size is ‘month’. A ‘quarter’ cohort would be a nice addition.

As a work around, I’d probably use query builder to export a list of users with sessions in Q1 (event = session int, show by = unique users, date range = Q1). Then I’d generate a second export for Q2. That will yield 2 csv files that Gemini, Copilot, GPT, etc. will be able to analyze for retention/drop-off by count and/or percentage. It’d be simple enough to get a csv output of the dropped off users from your LLM if you want to build a segment for outreach.

I’m doing a lot of that these days to supplement the available analysis in PX
