I have a guide engagement (Hero Dialog) to promote our latest release.

It has two buttons:

  1. Exit Button
    1. Labeled as “Learn more”
    2. Closes the guide and opens external URL in a new tab
  2. Snooze Button

When I look at the engagement analytics, the Learn More / Exit Button clicks are not counting as a CTA click.

But I (along with Gemini) can’t understand how I would define the CTA in the engagement editor. And Gemini tells me an Exit Button should be able to be a CTA.

Hi @DannyPancratz

Thanks for reaching out on the community!

In Gainsight PX, only custom buttons added to an engagement are tracked as CTA clicks in analytics. While the Exit Button can be configured to redirect users to an external URL, it's still considered a default system button—its primary function is to close the engagement. Because of that, even if it opens a link, it won’t be counted as a CTA click in analytics.

To track clicks as CTAs, we recommend adding a custom button instead of using the default Exit Button. You can then configure this custom button to redirect to your URL and ensure it registers correctly in engagement analytics as a CTA.
