“It’s not about the size of your data, it’s about what you choose to do with it!”

Sounds good right? Wink-wink! We however think it’s only partly true. We like data, and believe you can never have enough of it. Have an argument with your colleague? use data to settle it! Need that quick report to satisfy your management? BAM, data! Data is ONLY valuable however, when you use it in the right way or for the right use-cases. Therefore we are now introducing the Community Success Dashboard (or CSD, short) to make your data-collection life a little easier!

By releasing this first version of the CSD we aim to already give you more insight into the inner workings of your community. E.g. KPI’s about questions asked, or average response time are now easily available at first glance. For now we have selected a first set of data points that are quick to adopt and quick to act upon. Don’t worry, we will add more in the future. We believe the current release already has enough power to help you succeed in making your community an even bigger success! More details below.

What is available?

Customers running on the latest community templates will have a brand new dashboard, the third of its kind. This time it’s all about the community metrics that will help you define the success of your community. Check it out in Control > Analytics > Success dashboard to see it in action.

Here’s a brief overview of what you’ll find.
  • KPI’s for questions asked and answers given in a specific time range
  • KPI’s for average response time, average users per topic and average replies per topic
  • KPI for topics where only one user was involved
  • Distribution of questions that have been answered
  • Distribution of answers given by your company vs. answers given by peers
  • Detailed breakdown of number of replies per topic
  • Funnel on user activation

How-To’s

We’d love to hear from you. Should you have any concerns, questions or just a general thumbs up: start a conversation with us below! :)

Hi @Yoeri

Is this dashboard exclusive for branded templates? 🤔😓😲

Hey,

This dashboard will be released to non-branded templates on a later stage. We'll update you here via inSpired once it is available 💪 Please hold on and sorry for the inconvenience.

Looks like there are some discrepancies in the data, as we have 501 questions in the success dashboard, but only 404 topics in the content dashboard. Both during the "last week" date range.

That's odd. Thanks for letting us know Ditte, we'll look into it.

Hi @Yoeri , did you find out what's wrong with the data?
Also, is the community success dashboard already filtering out the hidden forums, like private areas for superusers and moderation subforums? If not, how can I filter it so the secondary data doesn't bloat our KPI data?

Hey,

We're still investigating the data issue.

The dashboards do not filter out any hidden forums. You can make detailed filters with the selections bar. Here are two ways to filter on specific categories:

Filter via Search
  1. Search for an existing category
  2. Select the category from the search results
  3. Click on the category in the selections bar
  4. Add or remove additional categories in the dropdown that appears
  5. Data will update based on the selected categories
Filter via Selections tool
  1. Click the 'Selections tool' in the top right corner
  2. Check 'Show fields' next to APP DIMENSIONS
  3. Look up the 'Category' lane
  4. Select one or more categories that you want to analyse
  5. Click the 'Selections tool' in the top right corner to return to the dashboard
  6. Data will update based on the selected categories
Hope this helps.

That is very helpful, Yoeri! Thanks for sharing. Now I just need to be able to save my selection so I can quickly find my preferred dashboard back 🙂

Hi,

Is it also possible to exclude some custom roles from this dashboard?
Otherwise, the data will unfortunately not be accurate ...

Hi,

It is only possible to filter out default roles (registered, super-user, moderators, administrators etc.). Default roles can be filtered out by making detailed filters with the selections bar (via search or the selections tool) which is described above.

Unfortunately it is not possible to filter out custom roles.

Heya, found this post, I also would like the option to add more variables to the dashboards.
Like Custom roles I'm also missing the main categories to search in. I only see the sub categories.
I would actually like to use as many variables as possible in the dashboards hehe.

But mainly custom roles, yes please.
I want to measure our different beta test groups and they can only be defined by custom roles.

I would also like an option to save dashboard filters, for easyer use and management.
(But i'm guessing its better to search a topic on dashboard improvements, or post my own)

Great suggestions Ronald. I suggest you post them as idea on our ideation board here: https://community.insided.com/got-an-idea-39

We've investigated saving dashboard filters in the past, unfortunately this is not possible because we embed the data into our Control environment 😞
