Export personal data with one click
The new Download My Data button compiles a complete data package for the member, including profile information, posts and contributions, private messages, and attachments.

How to Download Your Data

Click your profile picture
Click Settings
Select the General tab
Click Download My Data

When downloading, are users able to see the data that we have hidden from users on the back end?? We just did a test download & it showed those hidden fields.

Use Case: We track our user’s CSM as well as “spicy users” and would rather them not have access to that information. 😅

We also use a moderator note secret hidden field to add some notes on certain users.
There’s nothing scandalous on there, but definitely not something we would always want the user to see.

If that’s the case, we’ll need to change method.

Could someone from Gainsight confirm?

Thanks for this - it’s very much appreciated that these privacy issues are finally being handled. But in all honesty, we would’ve appreciated a head’s up before this was in production, as this has effects on our privacy statement. Also the localisations of the texts on this feature are somewhat… strange.

Also there’s an issue with the user profile export showing hidden fields, which is something we would’ve wanted to take care of prior to this being generally available. Now there might be some things said which we would not like to be there.

@deepan Any information you can give us about the increase of visibility to those hidden fields and how this will be fixed so users cannot export that data?

Hi All, I want inform that the issue in download my data is fixed. Downloading will not return hidden profile fields.
