Add Custom Lookup Field to Timeline Activity Types

Related products:None

kate_green
I have a client who would like to include third-party attendees on Meeting activity types that are not part of the Account or an internal user. It would be useful to be able to create a third lookup field (that behaves much in the same way that the internal and external attendees fields work) that could pull values from the Person object for this purpose.

Do we have any possibility to give the Option to create Custom Lookup fields in Timeline Activity Types? One of my Customers is looking to get the data from one of the SFDC Custom Objects.

Thanks for the idea. It is not on the short term roadmap but we will consider it based on other customers request.

Hi @anchal_s  & @tuhina

One of our customers would be looking to add a lookup to the Company Person object within the Activity Timeline object. Since it is a system object, we cannot make these changes from our end.

The use case is: we want a way to report on the connection between Company Person and Activity Timeline and Company objects, to track the strength of our relationships on a per-client basis.

Do we have any workaround in this case? Also, Please let me know if there is any ETA to add lookup to the activity timeline object?

@hardik_mota  there is a separate object Activity Attendee that lists the attendees (internal and external) that can be used for use case. Each tag on the timeline entry is its own record, so you can group by name and company and use counts from there. These have lookups to the Activity Timeline and the Person objects already

We use this method for the same kind of analysis to see who from our customers most interacts with us
