Private Communities and Moderated vs. Unmoderated Conversations/Questions/Ideas

To my fellow inSided Community Managers...does anyone know how to get alerts to specific people or teams when someone posts in the Community?

The approval process for posts and replies when moderated slows down the conversation between our customers. Has anyone tried unmoderated posting in a Private Community? What were the pros and cons?

Hey @jamari - we don’t generally recommend to have pre-moderation (approvals for all new content) enabled, for the reason that you mention. It creates a barrier to engagement.  Is there a particular reason you’ve chosen to have it enabled?  In most cases a better approach is to have a robust moderation process in place where somebody monitors all new content.  That way you can be certain that swift action is taken if needed.

In terms of alerting colleagues about new content, a quite common approach is to enable a Slack integration to pipe new content into a team’s channel.  You could also consider having colleagues subscribe to categories so that they get notification emails.

Thank you @Kenneth R. I have inherited this Community recently and am learning inSided as I go. I’m not sure how to turn off moderation, but I have reached out to my CSM. I’m working on getting people subscribed for now, and will look at Slack as a longer term solution.

Again, thank you!
