Add more options for CTA and Task Email Notifications in Gainsight

One of our CSMs recently mentioned how she lives in her inbox and therefore it would be helpful if she could get notified of past due CTAs and tasks in her inbox.

I know we could technically set this up via an internal JO program, but that’s (a.) too much overhead for this type of thing and (b.) a (possibly significant) portion of our end users would likely not want this type of notification.

I also realize she could just check a report that contains all her overdue tasks/CTAs, but in the spirit of “bringing Gainsight to other tools” (rather than defaulting to pulling people from other tools and pushing into Gainsight), I think this is a valid ask. Plus it would allow individual users to set their own notification preference.

I think a lot of us are falling back on internal JO programs for stuff like this. The personalized Notifications section is awesome and allows users to take some control over what they do (and don’t) care to hear about - customizing it further would be a huge convenience factor for them, and would help reduce the amount of JO traffic we admins have to serve up.

Having the logic to only serve up certain notifications every so often (or to serve up in a certain order if the first notification was sent and the task remained incomplete/unchanged) would be fantastic!

In general, I’d love to see some additional customizability for our end users within the notification settings in Gainsight. More specifically:

  • Ability for CSMs to toggle on/off notification for specific CTA type(s). Right now, unchecking the “A CTA is assigned to me” and the “A Task is assigned to me” means that the CSM will no longer receive notification for any CTAs or tasks assigned to them, not just specific types.
  • Ability for CSMs to toggle on/off notification for closure of tasks following subsequent closure of related CTA. Right now there is no option in the settings to prevent task closure from triggering, only when they are assigned. Ex: 1 CTA has 10 tasks which means the CSM receives 11 emails: 1 for the CTA closure and 10 more for each of the task closures. This quickly crowds CSMs inboxes and can be overwhelming.

Notification fatigue is real! We want our CSMs to always have positive sentiment towards our CTAs, but notifying them of everything multiple times a day without the option to stop them often impacts that sentiment.
