Rolling back Dashboard Permissions enhancements shipped in 5.11 release

With winter 2018 release (5.11) we shipped dashboard permissions that work out of MDA and allow the admin to grant permissions:

• On a single dashboard to a single user or a group of users.
• On a folder (with multiple dashboards in it) to a single user or a group of users.

While we were excited to introduce this powerful functionality to help ease the admin’s job while managing dashboards permissions, we ran into some issues after a few of our customers consumed the upgrade and started using Dashboard Builder and GSHome features. We performed a root cause analysis of the issues, and came to the conclusion that we needed to better orchestrate the steps required (across the product areas) for dashboard permissions to work properly than we originally designed.

To return customers that ran into issues to a working state, we have decided to roll back the dashboard permissions feature to its pre-winter release state. What this means is, while other new features and enhancements shipped as part of 5.11 release continue to work, only dashboard permissions will be reverted back (i.e permissions will start working as they did before the 5.11 upgrade).

We are very sorry to have put our customers through this inconvenience. We're working to resolve all of the issues very soon. Going forward we plan to enable the new dashboard permissions for our customers in batches, after manually making sure all prerequisite steps are properly performed, and customers are informed about the upgrade beforehand.
