The ability to preview in a rule has always been a great feature.  I was thinking it would be an additional value if you could preview by a certain date.  So many times when you're working with rules, you need to be very specific about its timing, i.e. Closed Date = Subtract X Days from Rule Date.  Often when I am building a rule, I have to alter the Filter Criteria from what the exact criteria would be in order to mimic the date criteria for preview. If there was a Preview By Date option, where I could enter a date that this rule might run, in order to validate my preview results, that would be helpful.

I know you can already run rules as if they were running on a certain date.  This is strictly around the preview option in the dataset task, as I'm building a rule.

Nice suggestion Jeff. The intent of providing the "preview" option within the dataset task was to validate the data that you are using to configure your Bionic Rule is correct or not as of the date when you are configuring the rule. But it is something good to validate if other users feel the same need.
As you rightly mentioned, this can be achieved by manually running the rule and then using the preview link in the Execution history.

But your date range is rarely the same as the criteria you're building, if you're building and testing on the same day.  It's about expediting the process.

understood. This is important when you have date level filters.
