View Report Descriptions within C360 and R360 sections (including Summary Widgets)

As our CSM's continue to use reports and widgets in both the C360 and R360, they are constantly asking for insight into what data the report entails. This information is included in the report description but is not visible on the C360 or R360 pages. This is forcing us to add out of product documentation to help them understand the data they are looking at.

We would LOVE to have this visibility in the product through either a hover feature or by using the space next to the report name to pull in the text that already is visible in the report description.

With the new Horizon 360 experience, we still don’t have the ability to do this, and folks coming in with the new experience are still asking for it:

Field level widgets can get a description, but report widgets get nothing. It doesn’t make sense from a wholistic 360 design that some things can get descriptions and even some can’t. Even the out of the box widgets should have the ability for descriptions.

Reports should inherit the description on the report - and maybe if you want a specific one for each 360 layout, you can overwrite what shows up (for that layout only) by adding a description on that particular layout.

@anirbandutta can we get some eyes on this? I have a feeling these aren’t the only two related requests on this.

I have passed this Idea to our PMs. Pl allow them some time to review and respond.

Hello All,

Thank you for your feature request. While it's an interesting idea, it falls under what we call "pebble items" with not significant business impact . Currently, our focus is on higher-priority initiatives like Inline Edit and Reporting as a Platform, which we believe will have a widespread positive impact on our user community.

As such, this feature is not part of our short- to mid-term roadmap, However, we will continue to keep this item in our backlog and will try to squeeze it as part of a big release , if it gains significant interest and upvotes .

Thank you for being an essential part of our journey!

Regards

Prateek

Not sure for Widget but, am I wrong in thinking this is already a capability for Reports at least?

If you have a report-based widget on the 360 (e.g., on the Summary tab) the descriptions don’t carry over, unlike here or a report on a dashboard.
