Ability to modify tags after sometime

@Yasas_AK I think the tag edit duration is tied to the amount of time the user has to edit their posts. If you go to Control Panel > General Settings > Custom User Roles you can change this to either be:

• 60 minutes; or
• Unlimited time (users can always edit their posts)

If set to Unlimited time for the Registered Users role, they should be able to modify the tags still.

Thank you very much @Scott Baldwin,  I was wondering if we could have these 2 setup separately: like keep the inability to edit as it is and provide the possibility to change or update a tag which would be highly useful.

@Yasas_AK do you mind sharing the reason why your users need to be able to update the tags and should not update the post itself?

Hi @janina.woita thank you for looking into this.

We have an operational requirement; where we need to give users the ability to add / modify certain community post tags after sometimes; ingoing through a verification process flow. In that we don’t won’t users to change things they have posted but rather initiate a process flow based on tags added at each stage. Since the workaround suggested makes all posts to be editable at any time it will make negative impact with regard to normal behavior and changes (users keep editing questions / answers provided). But when it comes to tag if we users could change the tags we could proceed with nice workflows that get enabled based on tags. We currently have a monitoring system based on saved tags added to posts by users. But if a user misses or uses an incorrect letter we cannot find them and users cannot edit the tag. 

So the request is it would be highly valuable feature to have the edit tag capability separately from editing post capability > considering them as 2 needs and not the same 

With this I am also looking into idea here where we want to effectively use insided capabilities to generate what we need rather than finding separate applications/flows for each requirement 

Appreciate your kind consideration on this and if you could implement such capability.

I’d like to add to this as well, (or maybe this is  a new idea?) I’d love to see a permission based Modify Tag option that did not require a moderator, with the technical nature of our Community I rely on my support team to validate tags, they do not need full moderation, only the ability to modify tags.  If the Super User role had this permission, I could also allow my trusted customers to modify tags.
