Had an interesting idea come up onsite at Citrix today.

Their CSMs asked if we could notify the CSM of big events that are happening with a company they manage. Their example was if in the news, we find that they are getting bought, going public, merging with another company, etc. Something like a company specific newsfeed.

It made me wonder if there is some software out there that could capture these kind of things and feed to us. It feels less important for our smaller customers with other smaller customers over their own - but, could be super useful for large Jupiters dealing with their large customers.

Heard the same request from SiSense in Israel - I know there are tools that already track it, the question is whether we can integrate with them and build something like "Sponsor tracking" but for company changes / main news e.g. re-org., fundraising, etc.

Something like an RSS feed with specific search parameters?

I had asked about this a few months back in chatter - https://na7.salesforce.com/001A0000014HHGX?fId=0D5A000002Drzaw

Rosetta Stone uses a tool called Owler that provides this insight. Would be interesting to see if it could be integrated with Gainsight in some way.

Probably not so difficult.  You can use a variety of tools to pull news feeds and drop them into a database.  I'd done this for the Marketing team for a company I used to work for specific to press releases but the idea is the same - just have to have a clean source in order to automate then ETL to S3.

I like the idea, Dave. Short term, I think this is a good option for customers that would want to do the work. However, it would be really cool to get the product to do the leg work and automatically pull that data. Then fire CTAs to notify.

Agreed, although it's a fun thing to think about.  Love this kind of stuff as fodder for training.

Had this same idea just yesterday and think it would be helpful going into conversations with customers, and can be especially impactful to retention if it’s bad financial news (or really great financial news).  Sort of like a google alert that would already be set up and incorporate significant or impactful updates.
