Gainsight Assist for Outlook – Authentication Update

Microsoft is retiring legacy tokens used for Outlook add-ins authentication and transitioning to Nested App Authentication. This change impacts all applications using legacy tokens, including Gainsight Assist for Outlook.

Impact on Gainsight Assist

To align with this transition, the Gainsight Assist for Outlook plugin is adopting the new authentication framework. This change will be effective from February 28 March 03, 2025.

Recommended Action for Microsoft 365 (M365) Admins after February 28 March 03, 2025 Release

The M365 admin must take specific steps to support the Gainsight admin in maintaining the Gainsight Assist plugin, as the Gainsight admin lacks the necessary permissions.

To simplify the authorization process, the M365 admin should use the Admin Consent Flow. This will automate scope authorization across all users in the tenant, preventing the need for individual users to manually reach out to the M365 admin for approval.

Use this link to initiate the Admin Consent flow..

For more details on this transition, refer to the FAQ document.

This information is also available in the Patch Release Notes.
