Hello Team,

A customer of mine has asked if it’s possible to have/create a different layout for “CTA Layout” when making a Timeline Entry from CTA itself.

The reason being is that the “Associated Records (AR)” is a mandatory field on Timeline hence whenever CSMs log a Timeline entry from CTA they cannot keep the field empty because it’s a mandatory field and can’t event select the same CTA in Associated Records because it won’t show up in the search.

There are two layouts available today in GS for admins for Timelines.

Global Timeline

Company Timeline

There is yet another timeline layout tab that is hidden within Cockpit > Timeline tab that inherits the Company Layout.

This layout is not working for us when using within CTA > Timeline tab because we have “Associated Record” as mandatory for external calls.
The ability to associate CTAs to timeline entry is not intelligent enough to detect that the entry is being made from with CTA tab. Even if we go another step and exclusively associate the CTA, the specific CTA does not show up in search. This is in my opinion not well thought feature flow or a bug.

However, here I am logging/voting this as an idea!
