We have a hierarchy in our instance of Gainsight. I'd like to be able to limit the search to just the parent account rather than show all on the accounts that meet the search criteria as many times the parent and children have the same or similar names.

Hi Trevor, We understand the problem you are facing. We will add it to our road map, however the ETA is not available at this time.
Hi Trevor, are you talking about searching via reports or on the main navigation bar?
In either case, you could use the "Parent Account ID" field on the Account object. In reports - just add a filter for where the Parent Account is null so you'd exclude any children accounts.
If you're thinking about the main navigation bar search, you can add "Parent Account ID" to the fields that are shown in the search, so it will make it visually apparent which records have a parent and which are the parent (they won't have a company listed in the parent account field):
You can add that field by modifying the customer search settings as show below:

Hi Dan, Yes, he is talking about the top navigation. Thanks for the thought.
Hi Trevor, Is the above configuration solving your use-case OR are you looking for any other use-case.
If this is not solving your use-case, could you please summarize here and add a screenshot for better understanding.

Hi Trevor, I recently started going through all of the unanswered or unresolved posts here. Was checking to see if this has been resolved or do you need any help here?
I would still like to get this resolved. We have added site type as a show field when we search (blue oval on the top right) which helps some, but we'd really like to simply filter.
Hey Trevor - Would such a filter apply to all users, or just the ones who don't operate at the Site level (just need the global account)?
Now you're getting fancy. If I can have only one, it would apply to everyone. Of course, if I can have the ability to change by the user or let the user decide, that would be better.
