Create domain name*

The Gainsight CC platform platform can be linked to from your own preferred domain name:

  1. Create your domain name (e.g. community.customer.com)

  2. Add the CNAME that the CC support team will provide you with the DNS settings

  3. After steps 1 and 2 have been done inform CC Support team (via email or the online submission form) about which domain name you''ve created

  4. Gainsight will generate an SSL certificate for you, you only need to verify the request by clicking a link. Our preferred method is DNS Validation for SSL Certs.

  5. Gainisght will update the domain name in the database and take the domain name live after you have verified the request.

*The platform cannot use a subfolder of your company''s main domain (e.g. "company.com/community"). It has to be a subdomain (e.g. "community.company.com") or a new domain altogether (e.g. "company.community")

*No wild card certificate to cover this subdomain and No CloudFront distribution to mention this subdomain as an Alternate Domain Names (CNAMEs)

Create webmaster email

The CC platform will send a variety of useful notification emails to community members. You will need to define a ''from address'' which will be used to send the notifications.

  1. Create a webmaster email. Make sure the email address can receive incoming emails, as this is a requirement for the webmaster setup.

  2. Verify the webmaster via Control → Settings → Webmaster email

  3. After verification You select the Sender name and email address in Control → Settings → Webmaster email -

  4. After steps 1, 2, 3, have been done inform CC Support team (via email or the online submission form).

  5. CC creates DKIM records and shares them with you

  6. You include DKIM records in the DNS

Implement your own design and tone of voice to your system emails in Control → Email → System emails

Check our Emails knowledge base for more information and guidance.

Implement SSO (optional)

Single sign-on, or SSO, is a technical authentication method for logging into multiple related, but independent software systems or applications. It allows users to log in with a single ID (typically an email address or username) and password, in order to easily access multiple systems or platforms. Read our getting started guide to get started right away:

Embed community content into your webpages with the Embeddable Widget (optional)

Our embeddable widgets are a set of easy-to-install, plug-and-play components that you can embed in pages of your website, using an embed code. They enable you to extend the reach of your community content and enhance your webpages. There are two types of embeddable widgets: in-page widget & conversational widget.

Implement cookie banner (optional)

We advise you to adopt a cookie consent solution like a cookie banner or modal, in order to comply with the European Union (EU) law. The EU places strict requirements on businesses who collect personal information about internet users within its borders.

The Gainsight CC platform comes with a default cookie banner that is enabled for your platform. If you would like to use a custom cookie modal/banner check the following article:

Embed third-party scripts (optional)

Empower the Gainsight CC platform with external services such as Google Analytics, Surveymonkey or Optimizely. Third-party scripts allow you to embed any external code into the Gainsight CC platform.

Include SSI files (optional)

Want your community’s navigation to match the look and feel of your existing website? Or maybe you need to include some external analytics/cookie scripts on your community? Use Server Side Includes (SSI) to include the contents of externally-hosted files on your community.

Hi Frank,

Any specific reason why we can't use a subfolder as a community address?

We would love to have this as a subfolder to help SEO of the main domain.
