Hey Insided,

Can you share any insights on upcoming changes for groups? I want to love groups, but I find using them on a day to day basis problematic.

I need:

  • Notifications when people request to join (I realize there’s a workaround with zapier)
  • Permissions JUST for group moderators (mark replies as answers, change titles, accept member requests)
  • Categories applied to groups so I can sort the content
  • Metrics to show up on member profiles (I get emails about this CONSTANTLY “I answered a question, why doesn’t it show on my profile)

I know some of these are ideas in the portal, but they’re all “open.” Is anything “under consideration” or “planned”?

Thanks!

Hi @Kgastaldo .

This article gives some foreshadowing on our upcoming releases on Groups. I can highlight the important content below. The product team is considering other ideas to be delivered for groups; however, below are the only ideas that we have publicly released, for now. We understand that requests around groups is a hot topic, so we have dedicated resources to enhance the module. Our team is monitoring feedback closely.

“Over the past few months, we’ve gathered a lot of feedback from you around Groups and the capabilities they offer. Among other things, we’re looking into implementing the three most popular ideas for groups:

  • Ability to invite users: to make it easier to grow groups and for users to join (private) groups.

  • Hidden groups: for groups you want to keep secret from the rest of the world.

  • Notification for end-user approvals: so that no one is left waiting at the door.”

Hey Jeanie - Thanks for the update. You guys might want to consider adding “under consideration” to your idea statuses. It would just give us an idea of what might be coming in the future. The update articles are really helpful though, thank you!

I would also add “in development” or something like that. For ideas like the ones listed above, they’ve already been publicly acknowledged … so a transparent way to see that from the Idea pipeline would be really great for transparency and awareness.

@DannyPancratz and @Kgastaldo. I’ve brought this back to the product team, and while they have been using “added to backlog” as an indicator. The practice of changing the idea status during development isn’t fully adopted. I agree that the transparency would be helpful. I’ve created an idea. Would you mind voting?
