Hi Nikhil,
thanks for sharing your question with us, great to hear that you are trying to get the embeddable widget on the product pages!
It is hard to say how the embeddable widget will exactly impact the SEO performance of a certain page, as there are many factors involved. For example, having more links on a page refering to other pages can be a good thing for ranking, but it could also affect your overall “link juice” or crawl budget for your company domain. Usually an SEO expert with knowledge of your specific domain should be able to tell if it is desired to have more cross-references or not. Nevertheless, there are some general things which can be said about this:
- Google is getting better at reading this kind of script on pages while crawling. This means that it is likely that Google is able to identify the content loaded via the embeddable widget and identify it as user-generated content (which will help with ranking higher).
- One thing that is also relevant for Google is if a page is actually giving the user the information he or she is looking for - do they return to Google quickly after clicking on a link in the search results? If so, a page will rank lower in consequence as the page does not seem helpful for that search query. Having the embeddable widget on a page will most likely make users spend more time on that page, or even continue browsing on your community.
- The overall user experience is important to Google as well - if page is giving users a good experience, it will rank higher. Having the embeddable widgets integrated will result in a richer user experience and therefore help you in terms of SEO.
These are some general points however I hope that it will help you to convince your colleagues to understand that the embeddable widgets are likely to have a positive impact on the SEO performance in a number of different ways. Should you have more questions around this or something should not be clear, please let me know!
