Hi, it’s been my experience that users cannot resize images when they post. I can resize images when I post an article from the Control, but not when I create a topic. Just wanted to confirm that’s correct and I’m not missing something?

There’s this previous Idea that implies this feature is available, but I’m not sure if it applies only to the Articles.

Thank you!

Hi @copperml ,

I’ve just tested this out myself actually and nope, I have the same snag myself.

However, there is a sort of workaround. If your users resize (and crop, if needed) their images prior to upload, this can help to reduce the size a little. You can use Paint on Windows or Preview on macOS to do this, but I personally find GIMP works better and when you export images out, it can also crunch the file sizes down too - you just have to remember to hit Export As rather than Save As!

I’ve got a few Ideas open which are related actually. I’ll let you know once I’ve managed to locate them.

Thanks @Blastoise186! I was surprised because the UI already exists when I create an article. Once you post the Idea links I will upvote them.

No worries.

It turns out I don’t have any Ideas for this exact one that I’ve created myself. And for a few reasons, I prefer not to steal the credit for ideas that someone else came up with first. If you don’t mind, would you be happy to post this as a new Idea? I’d rather let you get credit for it!

However, I did track down a couple of my own Ideas that have some relation.

While not quite resize related in the same context, these three Ideas are ones that I feel could help in other ways, especially when combined with the ability to properly resize stuff.

Thanks @Blastoise186 I created this Idea:

Anytime. :)

Would you be happy to mark this thread as Solved for me? I often make use of the thread status to pick up on questions that haven’t been solved yet, so if you’re happy with the answer, it would definitely help to clean up the lists a bit.

is that still the case today ? I can’t seem to do it, trying to figure out if that’s the reason or if it is a bug

resize and optimize the images.
