Does anyone host webinar recordings in their community?
Hi everyone!
We host product adoption webinars and we see a ton of customer engagement and RSVP’s. I’m considering hosting the webinar recordings in the community so this is community exclusive content.
Does anyone host webinar recordings in their community? I’m looking for inspiration for the layout! I’m torn if I should host in the help center, create a custom page or host in our general community area.
Any inspiration?
Thanks so much!

We post them to our community. I post them as articles with the video embedded and then use an article Label to call out that it’s a recording. I also use a Public Tag of “video” that I include on these and any other posts that have a video embed.
Previously I had a specific category for them, but I found that it didn’t get a ton of traffic. So I moved them into other categories, matching to whichever best fit the topic.
Another thing I do that I recommend is to break up the “macro” contact of the recording into “micro” content of smaller clips and pieces, then post each of those as well. For example, take every question from the Q&A, post it and answer it, embedding the recording clip. The aim is “SEO” for within your community search (as opposed to google, etc … though if your posts are public, it’ll work there too.) In general, people aren’t going to search for “Product Webinar” or “Product AMA”, but they will search for “Can {Product Feature} do {functionality?} or they’ll start to post a question on that. The micro content helps optimize small, bite sized topics to be found via search and the recommendation features when users start creating new posts.
Thanks @DannyPancratz great recommendations! Are you able to share a post that shows your video embedded?
Here’s an example using that micro content approach, I described.
I posted the full recording as an article
Included an outline of the topics/chapters covered, improving searchability with keywords
I posted each question on its own and answered it
embedded the full recording which had chapters, linking to the chapter for this question. Included the timestamp as a backup in case the chapter-timestamp link stops working
used transcript from the recording for a text answer as well
original question links to the full recording article (helpful if you post clips instead of the full video with chapters)
Used a moderator tag on the back-end to allow me to filter metrics to include/exclude this content from broader Q&A metrics
We use Wistia, which provides some great AI based tools for generating chapters and transcripts. But I’ve done the same approach for YouTube as well. Both are among the content types that auto-embed and are playable from within the community.
Hi @Taylor Lecky great conversation. I’m in an enterprise with a fairly layered tech stack. We don’t embed most of our webinar and event recordings on community, but we do promote and link most all of them from the Community.
There are two reasons why we don’t embed many versus linking over to them: one is that we can’t host video directly in Gainsight CC, but the other is that we use a different content management tech stack and system for embedding recordings from ON24 on our website. So I would say our community is a critical channel to build awareness and discovery for customers and partners but not for playback, if that makes sense.
I really like you approach @DannyPancratz! @Taylor Lecky, in case it helps, sending this SS of how we do ours in articles. We use ON24 (used in the hyperlink) and then created a abridged version and hosted on wistia (the bigger preview).
