​@sryder I assume you are using the Event Types already?

This gives you the Filtering in the events page.

The work around would be to create an accompanying topic and attach it as a featured Topic in the Event.

This has a couple of benefits;

1. You can use public tags to allow filtering on the search page
2. With an open topic you can allow conversation pre and post event

I cannot think of any other option right now.

I assume you are using the events type already.?

Beyond that the only place to tag is in the creation of topics. 

This can then be used to filter in search results.

A workaround could be to create a topic for discussion around an event and then mark it as featured on the Event page itself. That way you have a double catch loop where by the topic is referenced in the event and vice versa.

It is not ideal, but could suffice.

I like this idea and might play with these labels. We use event types, but it would be nice if you could sort conferences by location or any type by industry.
