I thought this would be interesting to all customers.
Do views equal page views or visits and is there any filtering active so that only 'external' views are measured?

Hey, thats a good question.
The view counter for topics 'does exactly what is says on the tin', it measures the total number of page views on a topic and there are no filters.
With Google Analytics its quite easy to see the total number of sessions to a page/on the community, excluding the IP range of your company office for instance.
