Adding Calendar invite file into email templates

Hi There 
Is there a way for us to include calendar invites, ics files in an email template. We are about to send newsletters with proposed webinar sessions via ics files. I tried to add these files into the email template but it says it is not support. Why is that? These files are perfectly acceptable for emailing?

    We have whitelisted the type of files that can be attached and ics is not part of it. I agree that it is perfectly safe to send ics files.

    I've added this to the backlog, this will be possible after July release. Sorry about the inconvenience

    Support for ICS/ICAL is coming in the October release. You shall be able to attach these files.

      Support for .ICS , .ICAL files as attachments: In Email Templates, attaching .ics (Outlook/Google Calendar) and .iCal (iOS) calendar invite files is now supported.
