My CSM team just attended a large national conference and was able to engage and meet with many of their accounts. I’d like for them to be able to update many of their accounts at once. Is there a way to add an engagement to many accounts’ timeline at once? Or bulk update? Thanks!
The quick answer is “Yes”, you can update your customers in bulk, usually using the Rules Engine.
Some of the tactics will be dictated by exactly what you want to update, and what you want to learn or get out of an automated update. For example, perhaps you’re updating a “Last Engaged Date” and you’ll populate the date of the conference into each Company record.
Perhaps you’d like to create an Activity Timeline entry, which you can also do with the Rules Engine. Beware though, you can only create a Milestone record with the Rules Engine. You cannot create a more traditional Timeline entry from the Rules Engine (though that’s not completely true because you could employ the Timeline API, if you’re comfortable with that).
One more thought….you’ll likely struggle to create a meaningful Timeline entry if the expectation is that the CSM needs to add prose, bullet points or other meaningful qualitative information they acquired at the conference. That’s probably the richest type of update, of those mentioned here. If that’s the case, your CSM almost certainly will need to input those Timeline entries themselves.
