Hi team,

It would be useful to have a field level dependency. For example, our SFDC team is replacing fields with no prior notice and it's difficult to go through all the rules to check where/when those fields were used so that we replace them. What do you think? Is there anything close to this functionality already available? I'm thinking of something like a Data management for Fields with dependencies, as we have for Objects.

Thanks!

Not sure if anyone else had this use case, but @jeffrey_boyer just solved this one for us. You can go to GS Analyzer -> Object Analyzer -> Data flow diagram, look up an object and then pick your field to see the dependencies.

Nice feature :)

@lucianluta and @jeffrey_boyer GS Analyzer -> Object Analyzer -> Data flow diagram, displays the object dependencies and not the field dependencies.

I referred to below doc. https://support.gainsight.com/View_More_Categories/Gainsight_Analyzer/Admin_Guides/02Object_Analyzer_Admin_Guide#Data_Flow_Diagram

The Data Flow Diagram helps us analyze how data flows through various objects. It also shows us the source and target rules /Ingest jobs reading, but not the field dependencies, Am I missing anything?

@vanessajessica Once you select an object and double click on it, the fields list should be displayed on the right hand side. You can select the needed field and the dependencies will be filtered based on what you selected.

Please let me know if this helps.

Thanks @lucianluta.

@vanessajessica We do have few articles to help you. Please refer this article for more information.

@lucianluta That was a quick reply. Thanks for your reply!

Hello Everyone!

Happy to announce that your request has been considered and included as part of the v6.13 release. With this release, C360/R360 layout field dependencies are tracked and visible for each object from the Data Management page, and fields with layout dependencies cannot be deleted until the dependency is removed.

This feature is implemented only in the NXT version.

Thanks for posting!

What does it mean when the field I’m looking to find the dependencies for can’t be chosen?

I would love to see a feature in GS similar to SF’s “Where is this used” button, so per field you can simply click it and it lists all the rules, reports, data jobs etc (all further clickable to go to and update/delete as necessary)
