We are interested in your feedback

We are currently working on improving the Gainsight Global Search, we want to improve the user experience around global search. A couple of the things we are already considering include

  1. Administration - Supporting filters in the search configuration. These filters help admins restrict in-active and non-relevant records from appearing in search results. (here)
  2. Recent searches - Showing the recent searches to users. (here)

Few inputs that would help me here are

  • What are the top 2 challenges you face with global search today ?
  • What can we improve to make it easier for you to find the desired Company/Relationship record ?
  • What other entities do you want to search using Global search ?

Also any other thoughts or ideas that you may have to improve the Global search would be super helpful.

Thank you all for your wonderful ideas.

Gopal

Would help out if it was possible to have the option to hide all non active accounts.

Or, to take it a step further, it would be awesome if Gainsight could just have something in the UI that makes it clear a customer is inactive/churned vs. active. Perhaps gray out inactive/churned customers? This would be super helpful for us because we are already at our limit for fields we can show in the search AND we have close to 20,000 customers, many of which have very similar or even identical names.

Also, I have a separate post for this, but I think allowing an Admin to toggle between fuzzy and exact search would solve a lot of problems brought up in this post:

Filters.  Global search filters would be amazing.  Also if global search could recognize/leverage Permission Sharing Groups?

Yes! I’m a huge fan of the Google’s search tools. I use the Time modifier all the ‘time’ (😜) when I’m looking for the most up-to-date info on a given topic, so I don’t have to wade through outdated info.

Being able to add in filters (active contacts, churned accounts, etc.) would be 🔥

100%!

I used to use the Web of Trust extension for Chrome (can’t remember why I stopped), but their R-Y-G icons were always helpful when I was browsing search results. Something like that after each account name would be fantastic! (maybe with black or grey for an inactive account)

Hi, @gopal_rao_kallepu I was going to request being able to change the order of Global Search. We need Relationships to show first, especially now with People/Contacts showing up there too. Is this on the roadmap?. Also, minor but in Lightning, constantly end up searching in the SFDC search bar, just need to get used to not doing that 🤦🏽.

Relationship pains for us as well.  We use relationships almost exclusively.  One consideration - we search mostly by a custom field “Client ID” on the Company associated Company Object - but that custom field “Client ID” in search only returns company records.  If I search by Company Name - it returns both Companies and Relationships associated to the company name.  It would be nice to have the custom field do the same thing - relationship parity!

I will echo Relationship Results First in the Search Results - that would be a huge help for us.

Our teams would like to see a Google-like search capability. Rather than narrowing down the search to just a couple of fields, index everything and give me search results like a search engine would do. I want to be able to search in natural language and be shown relevant results from across the platform.

Many of our users came from Planhat, and they loved their version of search over the Gainsight style.

Echoing many of the points already mentioned. I would like to share key feedback and a suggested improvement that our team is seeking.

We often struggle with navigating through a list of similarly named but incorrect accounts. Example, we end up having similar/almost same named accounts but from different regions. Many a times, the results even shows accounts that no longer a customer of us or contracts (Relationships) that are Inactive.

Idea - We need a filter option right at the corner of the search block. While we (CSMs) search for an account, we can easily use the filter to provide me the results based

  • Status of Company/Relationship to Active
  • Specific to a region like APAC, EMEA, AMERICAS

There’s also a feedback I would like to share and seeking for a better approach on the number of results we show.

We use relationships extensively, the appropriate relationship for an account frequently fails to appear (example below) in all the search results - Global search/while logging CTA/Timeline from Global Timeline/Cockpit. This forces us i.e., CSMs to go to the R360 page of the Company to restart the process of creating an activity or CTA, which is both frustrating and time-consuming.

We have accounts where they are customers to more than 20+ our products/relationships. However, when I accurately search the ‘client A’, the relationships search results only show only 20 relationships related to this account in specific.

The filter option in Global Search helps users identify accounts, but limiting search results to 20 records is an issue. Additionally, it is not feasible to include filters in the search section when creating a Timeline or CTA from global pages. We kindly request that you take this feedback into consideration regarding the restriction on the number of records shown in search results.

I fully support all recommendations concerning Relationship Search Results. As a strong proponent of Gainsight’s AI/Horizon AI, our team is keenly interested in an advanced search engine capable of accurately analyzing accounts and their relationships based on prompt given. Achieving a Global Search powered by Natural Language Understanding, end-user personalization, and refined, concise results would represent a significant advancement for the platform.

Agreed with most of the feedback here & will add that, depending on future enhancements, it could be useful to integrate CoPilot functionality into the standard Gainsight search bar (based on admin enabling) to allow for more nuanced searching by users.
