Is it possible to have different timeline activities for different users

I have a use case where my company has 3 different company types in Gainsight.  Company, Client and Partner.

We would like to setup a Partner specific Timeline Template, Partner specific CTA Template etc. that is only visible on Partner accounts.

Currently I am not seeing a way to do this as there is only Global, Company, Relationship.

Any ideas out there?

Hi Jason,

That’s wonderful idea to restrict the timeline templates based on the company types Like partner, client, etc. Currently, We can restrict the templates to be visible at the timeline activity type Level/.

I’m tagging our Timeline product Manager @Bhawya to review the request and see if this can be considered in near term roadmap.

Best,

Hardik

@jberberichpaycor Thanks for sharing the use case, we will definitely look into it. However, it’s not part of our near term roadmap currently. Will update this thread, once we have clarity.

@hardik_mota curious to know how the timeline can be restricted at the activity type level.  is there a guide that shows how this is done? @Bhawya

I believe @hardik_mota is referencing Timeline Notes Templates, which can have restricted availability based on the Timeline Types.

Having different views for Activity Types would help our users be more efficient by not having to sift through all the options. Also, having the ability to set a pre-selected or default Activity Type would save even more time.

Hi @chad_kocherhans
Absolutely agree about the former, and regarding the latter you can have a default type. It would be the first in your list of the Activity Types (Timeline Administration)
But there is a gotcha, If going to C360 → Create →Activity, the 1st choice is set as default. If going to C360 → Timeline → Add activity doesn't ☹️

C360 → Create →Activity

C360 → Timeline → Add activity

We spoke about this recently in the Global Gainsight Admins’ Slack (if you are not part of it, I highly encourage you to join!). One of the admins was told by support that was intended behaviour, and I have a ticket open at the moment

Welp, I was told that the PM team confirmed they will be proceeding as an enhancement request and standardize the functionality across Timeline pages for productization.

So, as suggested, I submitted the idea. Feel free to add a vote/make some noise @chad_kocherhans 😊
