Question

Why can I not filter by some SF account fields within reports?

When I am creating a report, I would like to sort it by a field within the SF account page. I am able to 'show' the field but when I try and sort by the field it isn't an option. I have removed it from the 'show' section first but it still does not allow be to sort by the field I want. Has anyone else come across this and found a work-around?

Hi Samantha!  This could be due to the field type you're putting in the by section (some field types can't be placed in the By section).  Do you mind letting me know what the field type is you're working with?

Thanks!

I have had the same problem before.  Salesforce Apps (not just Gainsight) are not able to group by SFDC formula fields.  We have a lot of custom formula fields that we are able to group SFDC reports by but not able to do so in Gainsight Reporting.  To get around this, I used traditional SFDC reports based on Gainsight Object Report Types.
