Standarize the default activity in Timeline

The behaviour of the default activity is different depending from where the activity is being created.

If going to C360 → Create →Activity, the 1st choice is set as default


If going to C360 → Timeline → Add activity it doesn't

 


It make no sense that they behave differently, especially considering that most of the time end users use the latter.

I submitted a support ticket and was told that the PM team confirmed they will be proceeding as an enhancement request and standardize the functionality across Timeline pages for productization.
As suggested, here I am submitting the idea.

I feel like this shouldn’t even be that hard of a “fix”? Just mirror whatever you did for the C360 → Create →Activity path. But as @darkknight said, consistency is key.

Would be nice to have the option to choose which one should be the default one in the instance. ie. for us could be a custom one called “Outbound call”.

You just have to drag that activity to the first position in Timeline Administration → Activity types

@romihache mmhhh… in the 1st position we have “inbound call” but it always opens “email” as default.

Tested from my end swapping update for call and worked without an issue:

I believe it’s because they are both System activities.

My first system activity in the list is indeed Email.
But there are 3 custom ones above it that are not considered as higher priority.

Well, with the new release this has been fixed. now we get the same activity in both.
But, the release also opened a different can of worms:
