Currently if you close a Success Plan, all of the associated Objective CTAs and Tasks are closed success.  There is no option to apply a different status to Objective CTAs and Tasks.

Enhancement: we would like to have an ability to choose which status value is assigned to Objective CTAs and Tasks when closing a success plan.  Further, we’d like the ability to choose the status value when assigning a custom Status value on the success plan, such as ‘Cancelled’.

Use Case: our onboarding team may need to Cancel and/or Close a Success Plan prior to completing all underlying Objective CTAs and tasks.  For example, there may be 5 total Objective CTAs in the Success Plan, they have 2 that are Closed Success, 1 that is Work in Progress, and 2 that are New/Not Started.

When setting the Success Plan status as Closed (or Cancelled in our org), the standard system behavior displays the dialogue box advising that all Objective CTAs and tasks (that have not been actioned, e.g. are in ‘New’ staus) will be marked as closed.  The actual behavior is that they are all marked as ‘Closed Success’.

This behavior means that when viewing reports and measuring utilization for Success Plan’s closed/cancelled early based on Objective CTA statuses and task statuses, there will be an artificially inflated number of ‘Closed Success’ records that were not actually worked at all.

Our desired behavior is to have the option to apply a different status of our choosing that more accurately represents the disposition of each Objective CTA and Task with a Success Plan.

For instance, when updating the Success Plan status to ‘Closed’, an option should be presented to apply any Status value we choose from our list of available CTA Status values.

YES!!!! This!!!! I need this so bad.

Business Case: Our organization uses Success Plans to manage our Onboarding Projects. We currently have three different Success Plan statuses that are in the Closed reporting category:

  1. Completed - all action items have been completed successfully
  2. Cancelled - some action items may be completed successfully, others will not be completed
  3. False Handoff - no action items will be completed as the sales rep did not properly handoff to the OBM; when the handover is completed correctly, a new SP is auto-generated

For the above SP statuses, we see different manual behavior from Onboarding Managers (OBMs) before the official “Closure” of the SP. Some Objective CTAs / Tasks may be marked Closed Success, others may not be touched at all, or for some instances, no CTAs are acted on. In an ideal world, we could configure the system so that we map the following actions to each SP status:

  1. Completed
    1. Open CTAs → Closed Success
    2. Open Tasks → Closed Success
  2. Cancelled
    1. Open CTAs → Closed No Action
    2. Open Tasks → Closed No Action
  3. False Handoff
    1. Open CTAs → Closed No Action
    2. Open Tasks → Closed No Action

We also may decide to change the behavior for False Handoff to mark CTAs/Tasks as Closed Invalid, so it would be nice to have the option to customize the experience across the status. In any case above, the OBM will not take additional action on the SP once the status is changed to one of these, so they should be closed, but marking all CTAs & Tasks as Closed Success invalidates reporting on activities completed over time.

Love this idea! I can definitely see us using different objective and task statuses as we continue to mature in the Success Plan space.
