Running dependency checks in Gainsight goes one of two places (frequently both, to be safe): Data Management or Analyzer. Data Management seems to pick up ALL rules, active or not, in dependency listings. Analyzer seems to show active rules only.
While I do appreciate having a place to check inactive Rule dependencies (in the event that I’m trying to deprecate a particular field, those still matter a lot) I’d find it VERY useful to be able to differentiate between the active and inactive dependencies.
Ideally, both the dataflow maps in Analyzer and the dependency listings in Data Management should match. Failing that, it would be awesome if the rules listed in Data Management included a Status so I could do my work without sifting through dozens of inactive rules.
Case in point: today, I’m updating a field on our Company object and I’d like to know exactly where those impacts might be felt. No problem! I pop on over to Data Management and I find 41 rules listed. Medium problem, but I’ll manage. After checking through all of these, I’ve found that only 1 was active - and it was the rule I’d just written to manage the update. In this example I could’ve saved myself a lot of time if the Rule Status were displayed up front vs me having to dig down in to each to check.
