CSMs are complaining that logging Timeline entries from within CTAs and Timeline is confusing and time-consuming.  In my case, CSMs typically end up just adding their notes to the Comments field because it’s “faster”

What would be great is if, within every CTA and Success Plan, there is a “Timeline Activity” field already natively embedded in the CTA Details, with a selector that contains pre-selected Activity Types that they can log, so they don’t have to navigate to a different tab to create.

Bonus points for including the Latest Update in the Detail view as well, so people don’t have to navigate to the Timeline tab to see the most recent update.

Still keep the Timeline tab for viewing all past entries related to this CTA/SP.

This may seem like a minor thing, but every click and every navigation to another tab is seen as cumbersome.

Also, I noticed with a couple of Gainsight competitors that they had the ability to capture notes quickly like this from within their version of a CTA/Task. Improving this experience for end users would level the field a bit more I think.

Something like this:

@anirbandutta may we have the PM have a look at this?

I was just on another call with a CSM where they complain that the Timeline workflow is too cumbersome/too many clicks - “Why can’t we just use the ‘Comments’  field to capture our updates?”

I agree - Timeline is too click heavy. There has to be a simpler way to log updates.

I could see how these updates would make using CTAs very user friendly.

I especially like the ‘last updated date’ field idea.

We even ended up dropping Timeline as a component of a workflow because people kept putting the Timeline entry “in the wrong place”. This is especially painful given new AI features use almost exclusively Timeline for their data, meaning we’ll have to back that data into that object for it to be of use.

I think this would go a long way to making what is a useful feature, actually easy for CSMs to use in a way that easily promotes good quality data in your workflows.

@bradley speaking of “putting the Timeline ‘in the wrong place’”….

@AshutoshSingh thanks - if you’re looking at ways to endear end users to Gainsight, this would be a big win.  Anything that can be done to prioritize this would go a long way!

This is great to hear & I hope that it’s able to come to fruition soon!

One ask that I’d have alongside this (and I know there’s a community idea out there for it, just need to find it) is that the CTA not erase an unposted Timeline entry details when the user updates a status/reason/etc.

Right now we have users experiencing this with just changes to the description text field & I’d have to imagine usage of a Timeline entry option directly from the CTA would be much higher.
