It would be great if I could add a new contact from Timeline entries. The contact I am trying to add as an external attendee doesn't exist so now I need to go back to people, add them, then try again (less likely to do that). If I could be prompted to add the contact, fill in any fields required and hit save, then continue doing my timeline entry, it could help ensure proper record keeping

This would be a huge time savings for CSMs/End Users! It would also help keep customer contacts up to date since we could more easily add in new contacts.

@aaronhatton and others, thanks for sharing your feedback.  I have noted and added this to roadmap for prioritization. However we have other priorities that may take over so this may not be picked up in our near term feature deliverables.

Not sure whether this would be a new idea or not, but on a similar note, it’d be really cool to be able to update Company Person fields from the Timeline Entries to make maintaining data a bit easier. Ex:

  • Title Change
  • Role Change (key contact, etc.)
  • Name Change (if incomplete data)
  • etc.

@kim_stone @kstim for vis.

Any info on when this might be delivered? This would be a welcome QoL update.

@dayn.johnson We are doing analysis on this from our side , since Contact creation also supports company association. Some considerations we are making is when contact is created from timeline , -

  • Should we default it to the company of the activity?
  • Should we allow mapping them as relationship person?
  • Should we also allow association to other companies the activity doesn’t belong to? Or limit it to any associations within the activity?

Feedback from this group is welcomed as we conclude the path forward. We can expect his someting in H2 this year

This would be a big time saver for CSMs indeed.

@ChiragJ Regarding your questions:

  • Yes, default to the Company of the Activity
  • Yes, if the Activity is created on a Relationship, map them as a Relationship Person on that Relationship. If it’s created on a Company, leave the option to map a Relationship manually.
  • I don’t see a use case for associating to other Companies/Relationships directly. I also don’t think this is possible when creating a contact directly from C360 or R360 today?

Agreed with @Jef Vanlaer -- use case for other companies/relationships seems like more hassle than it’s worth. If multiple companies are represented on an activity, it may be helpful to add a popup that advises the user that new contacts can only be mapped to the company of the activity, and that contacts for other companies should be added to their corresponding companies separately. Maybe just give the ability to associate the timeline activity with that company, so the user could then go to that activity to associate it with a new contact after it had been created if needed?
