Like it is possible to customize the layout of the main landing page and custom pages it would be great to be able to customize the user experience in each community section and category.

We would very much like this. It's kind of weird that we can style our main page in a bunch of ways, but not the category pages.

Hi all! We're opening a beta for customizable layout for Sections and Categories in the Community and Knowledge Base modules (Groups coming soon).
We're looking for customers to test the feature and share feedback. Interested? Comment below and we'll send you a consent form. Once submitted, we'll enable it on your sandbox so you can start exploring.
