Yes, right now we don’t have a Percentage data type but we can calculate the percentage with the help of Formula fields.

we have a workaround to calculate the percentage in DD using Formula fields.

In your data set, select the “Add Formula Field” button.

Now the formula window will appear. Select the DataType as Number and the Expression Type as Numeric Expression and provide the decimal places how many we want to show in the output.

In the formula text box create your formula as per your requirement and save it. And just do Preview the task.

Commenting here to bring this back up.  It would nice to have this available as an option as it is in Report Builder instead of having to do this workaround.

Similar post -- would be great to be able to have all the data types that are still available in the “old” advanced JO queries for custom field mapping in data designer so we can continue to build without workarounds.

Oh wow is this ever disappointing. I’m shocked I haven’t run into this before. As Gainsight enriches their product with more functionality for target/goal tracking (eg, KPI widgets), data designer NEEDS to be able to support formulas for Percentage data types.

Here’s my use case:

• Requirement: As a CSM, I need to see how I am pacing towards my target Effective Renewal Rate for the current quarter.
• Build: Design a dataset that aggregates relevant opportunity ARR fields and derives a percent Renewal Rate grouped by CSM. Then, use that data set to create KPI Widgets that will respond to a global filter in a dashboard so that the widget shows the CSM their individual target and individual pacing.

I started using Data Designer to build this (great use case for it), until I found I couldn’t derive a Percentage field. This also impacted my ability to use a KPI widget with a dynamic goal & variance to report on pacing to target.

Sigh….back to the old rule + custom object. Please, please introduce this capability for #productparity and just better admin user experience.

Adding to what others have said here, it would be extremely helpful to be able to have a percentage fields like you can in rules engine. It’s a bit cumbersome to do the calculation and it’s still not truly a “percentage” in reports.
